What We Do/Projects
NW Natural Renewables makes it easy to decarbonize energy use through our expertise with renewable natural gas (RNG) project development, regulatory programs, and greenhouse gas (GHG) protocols.
RNG provides a practical, flexible and scalable way to meet sustainability goals while maintaining energy reliability. Chemically identical to fossil based natural gas, RNG is a drop-in fuel made from organic waste sources that has a lower carbon intensity than conventional natural gas. RNG can be a powerful tool for meeting your company’s emissions targets and regulatory goals while using existing natural gas infrastructure.
Two of our projects in Ohio are delivering low-carbon fuel by converting landfill gas to pipeline quality RNG. The NW Natural Renewables team is decarbonizing thermal demand and transportation fuel with RNG produced from these two facilities.
The Limestone Facility, which is capturing landfill gas from a landfill near Youngstown, Ohio, has the capacity to produce approximately 1.7 million MMBtu (million British thermal units) per year of pipeline-quality RNG.
The Lorain Facility, located in Oberlin, Ohio, has the capacity to produce approximately 1.6 million MMBtu per year of pipeline-quality RNG.
Reduce your carbon footprint without overhauling operations or sacrificing performance. RNG delivers the drop-in, low-carbon substitute for fossil-based natural gas to meet your energy needs, whether generating clean electricity on site, serving thermal loads, or supplying fleet transportation fuels.
NW Natural Renewables brings decades of energy experience and a growing national RNG project portfolio that helps our clients meet their decarbonization targets and regulatory goals.
